Vermicelli Upma

VERMICELLI UPMA || BREAKFAST RECIPE || SAIVAYYA RECIPE

  • PREPARATION TIME: 10 Mins

INGREDIENTS:
  1. Vermicelli  -  500gm
  2. Oil  - 1 cup
  3. Onions  Chopped  - 1 large
  4. Tomato Chopped - 1 Small
  5. Green Chilli Chopped  - 1-2
  6. Red Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp  
  7. Curry Powder - 1 tbsp
  8. Turmeric  Powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1/2 tsp
  10. Garam Masala Powder  -1/4 tsp
  11. Water  -1/2 ltr
  12. Salt - to taste
FOR TEMPERING:
  1. Mustard Seeds  - 1tsp
  2. Chana Dal & Urad Dal - 1tsp
  3. Curry Leaves - 2 sprigs
  4. Whole dry red chilli - 1
METHOD:
  1. Roast Vermicelli keep aside.
  2. Add Oil in the same pan add tempering in it.
  3. Add onion saute 2 - 3 mins add tomato, green chilli, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder stir and fry about 2 mins. Add 1/2 ltr of water and salt.
  4. Add red chilli powder, curry powder, garam masala powder and green coriander.
  5. When water gets to boiled add roasted vermicelli stir it well. Cooked it until it dry leave it about 5 to 6 mins. Serve it hot.

  • TIPS:
  1. Pour few drops of oil while roasting Vermicelli.
  2. Always use Gram-masala powder from my recipe.
  • SERVINGS SUGGESTION:
  1. You can serve this recipe with chicken, mutton korma achar and baigan ka salan.
  • ABOUT RECIPE:
It is a very tasty and healthy recipe very popular in south Indian breakfast.
It's very important to do breakfast because breakfast means" breaking the fast!"
Breakfast should be eaten within two hours of waking. 
Breakfast provides our body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast, you are effectively running on empty, like trying to start the car with no petrol.
