MALKA MASOOR DAL BIRYANI || HOW TO MAKE BROWN LENTIL BIRYANI || VEG BIRYANI RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:
  1. Rice - 1 Kg (Soaked in water for 30 Mins)
  2. Brown Lentils - 250 gms
  3. Onion - 2 Big (Sliced)
  4. Tomato - 2 Big (Sliced)
  5. Potato - 5-6 (Fried in oil & cut into 2 equal halves)
  6. Curd - 1 cup
  7. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  10. Kashmiri lal mirch powder - 1/2 tbsp
  11. Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
  12. Garam Masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  13. Bay Leaf - 2
  14. Green Cardamom - 2
  15. Cinnamon Stick - 1
  16. Cloves - 2
  17. Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
  18. Green Coriander - Few
  19. Mint Leaves - Few
  20. Green Chilli - 2-3
  21. Lemon - 2-3
  22. Salt - to taste
  23. Ghee - 1 Spoon
  24. Oil - 2 Spoon
DRY SPICES FOR RICE:
  1. Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
  2. Cloves - 2
  3. Bay Leaf - 1
  4. Green Cardamom - 1
  5. Cinnamon Stick - 1
METHOD:
  1. Take a vessel. Add masoor dal, water & salt to taste, keep on high flame & cook.
  2. Once the skin separates from dal, turn off the flame.
  3. Take a vessel, add water, dry spices for rice, salt to taste & cook.
  4. Heat a pan. Add ghee & oil. Add dry spices & saute.
  5. Add onion & saute. Turn the flame to low. Take out some fried onion & save for later.
  6. Add ginger-garlic paste & saute.
  7. Add tomato & saute. Add salt to taste & mix well.
  8. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, kashmiri lal mirch powder, coriander powder, mix all the ingredients.
  9. Add curd & mix well.
  10. Add a little water & mix well. Cook for another 5-6 mins.
  11. Add green chilli, salt to taste & mix well.
  12. Add boiled masoor dal with its water & mix well.
  13. Add garam masala powder & mix well.
  14. Add green coriander & mint leaves. Cover & cook on low flame for 5 mins.
  15. Add lemon juice & mix well. Turn off the flame after 2 mins.
  16. Strain the rice & separate from water.
  17. Take a handi & layer the biryani as shown in the video.
  18. Cover & cook biryani for 10 mins on low flame.
  19. Serve hot with dahi kachumbar & papad or badi.
